Fast Feet Weekend 2019 – 20 and 21 April

Following a great first edition last year, we now continue the trend with another weekend of fun and energetic dancing on 20 and 21 april 2019!

This year we feature Balboa, Shag and Tap. To know more about the weekend, read further!

How it works

You get tickets for a certain amount of classes. On the weekend, you can pick your amount of classes from our ‘fast feet menu’. You can choose classes in all possible combinations & on all days.

The levels

Beginner-intermediate

This level is meant for dancers who are familiar with the basics of the dance. You have followed classes/workshops on the dance style and comfortable executing the basics on faster music.

For Balboa
You are dancing Balboa between 6 months – 1 year. You understand up and down hold, lollies, paddles, out & ins, throwouts and come around.

For Shag
You have followed at least a couple of shag classes or one block of classes. You know the basic footwork and maybe even some variations on it! You are familiar with the basic positions: closed, open and side-by-side and know how to lead or follow the basic moves (i.e. change places, tuck turn, underarm turn).

Intermediate-advanced

This level is meant for dancers who have attended many classes/workshops either locally and/or internationally.

For Balboa
You are dancing Balboa from 1 to 3 years and have attended workshops locally and internationally. You dance Balboa socially and looking to further expand your repertoire and get more hours of Balboa into your body.

For Shag
You have attended a couple of workshops or more than 1 block of classes of shag (Maybe even internationally). You are not afraid to dance shag at socials. You’re comfortable with the footwork and know some variations. You lead and follow the basics with ease and know a couple of more advanced moves.

Tap

Absolute beginner
You are a lindyhopper, but have never taken tap classes, or maybe a taster once or twice, but you need a brush up on the basics.

Beginner Intermediate
You have followed a bunch of tap tasters or some classes. You do tap moves in your lindyhop and you know the difference between toes, heels, steps, flaps, scoffs and shuffles.

The classes

Balboa

BI – Pure Bal – We will work on Pure Bal basics, position and comfort. You will find the fun and interesting aspects of Balboa basics that will make you stay in closed position for longer.

BI – Bal Swing – We will work on Bal Swing basics, position and leading/following. You will polish basic figures and learn how to improvise with them.

IA – Pure Bal – We will work on Pure Bal basics, position and comfort. You will learn more vocabulary, rhythms and aesthetics adding to your Balboa basic.

IA – Bal Swing – We will work on Bal Swing basics, position, footwork and leading/following. You will learn some new moves/ideas and how to adjust them so it fits the music.

Collegiate Shag

BI – The Basics and Musicality – Get to know the basic rhythms, different footwork, body posture and technique to connect with your partner. Learn to use it to fit the music you dance to and control your body to keep up with any kind of tempo music.

BI – Small Combos and Musicality – Get some cool figures vocabulary and learn to fit it into the music you dance to.

IA – The Basics and Musicality – Get to know your basic rhythms, different footwork, body posture and technique to connect with your partner. Improve to use it to fit the music you dance to and control your body to keep up with any kind of tempo music.

IA – Small Combos and Musicality – Learn some cool vintage-inspired or our original combos and fit it to the music you dance to.

The costs

We offer up to a 4-course menu prepared especially for you:

One (2 hr) class: €25,-
Two (2 hr) classes: €40,-
Three (2 hr) classes: €50,-
Four (2 hr) classes: €55,-

The Saturday Party is included in the class passes. If you only want to do the party you can also buy a separate ticket.

A party ticket costs €7,50 at the door.

Friday night party!
On Friday night, let’s head out to our favourite friday night social SOOP at the kompaszaal where the Ding dong daddies are sure to set our feet on fire.
